(Murray Bridge Town Hall)

Sing Along Cinema comes to Murray Bridge with the original and the best ‘The Blues Brothers’. They’ll never get caught. They’re on a mission from God.

You already know the words so it’s time to break out your best ‘Joliet’ Jake & Elwood Blues suits, hats and sideburns... or maybe you prefer Sister Mary ‘The Penguin’ Stigmata or even Joliet Jake’s ex-fiance the ‘Mystery Woman’...

Hosted by 5MU’s Adam Connelly and Murray Bridge News Peri Strathearn, we want you to sing, dance and dress up. Prizes for best dressed.

Popcorn and drinks available for sale on the night.

All funds raised are for the Rotary Club of Mobilong for local, community causes.

Perfect for a fun Mother’s Day surprise too.

Ski for Life 2024

The Rotary Club of Mobilong have over the last 11 years cooked and served Egg and Bacon sandwiches to the participants and officials participating in the 3-day event where teams water ski from Murray Bridge to Renmark along the beautiful Murray River covering 455+ kms.

Along the way teams raise funds and promote Emotional Well-being and raise the awareness of Suicide Prevention.

Over the years we have watched this event grow and this year there was 410 people registered to participate.

With the challenge of having to cook and serve 430 egg and bacon sandwiches in an hour and a half we asked the Rotary Club of Murray Bridge for their assistance. We sincerely thank them for the 4 members who assisted to cook all the eggs on their BBQ trailer whilst Mobilong members cooked the bacon, a great team effort to serve the breakfast.

This is an annual event that we are always happy to support and is now one of our annual community activities.

We thank Randell from Drakes Murray Bridge for organising to get the bread donated as well as providing a large box of apples.

We look forward to continuing this wonderful community partnership.

On Saturday 25 November Murray Bridge and Mobilong Clubs participated in the Walk for Respect in Adelaide city, and carried the same banner. Rotary has a proud history of leading the way with social issues. With banners from many sponsors and Clubs, and placards citing examples of Domestic Violence and Coercive Control, 1,000 Rotarians, Sponsors and other passionate advocates walked peacefully side by side down King William St to the Pioneer Women’s Memorial Gardens where we heard powerful speeches from our DG Craig Dowling, Minister Katrine Hilyard, and 5 others, some of whom spontaneously asked to speak. It was a moving and confronting experience and we now wait for a Royal Commission into Domestic and Family Violence and the promised legislation making Coercive Control a crime.

The local Place of Courage event (Friday 24 November), had to be moved at short notice from Sturt Reserve to the Railway station due to the threat of thunderstorms and inclement weather. This, however, did not detract from the significance of the gathering, nor numbers attending. There were 180 present to hear testimonies from several speakers and a call for action from MC Linda Martin and Cr Karen Eckermann who are each involved in bringing this social disease to our attention. Mobilong, Murray Bridge and Tailem Bend Rotary Clubs, together with Council, sponsored the local DV groups (see a photo of the banner) and we cooked a BBQ funded by Council and provided free to all who attended.

Last night we had the pleasure of inducting 2 new members into our Club.
Seun Akande & his wife Mobolaji Akinbo became the newest members of Rotary International.
They attended our meeting with their 3 young children and a few friends to witness this special occasion.
Seun & Mobolaji were also our guest speakers, giving us a presentation on their journey from Nigeria 🇳🇬 to Murray Bridge 🇦🇺
They spoke of their home country struggles, what inspired them to move, why they chose Australia/Murray Bridge & the challenges they faced once they arrived.
But after many years in MB, they now have good jobs, many friends and are proud to call Murray Bridge home.
We welcome them both and their children into the Rotary Club of Mobilong

The container filled with much-needed donations, including stationery, blankets, toys, books, and playgrounds, has finally arrived all the way from Australia to our community this past Saturday. The Interacts from the Rotary Club of Gerege kindly assisted us in unloading and organizing these donations.
These essential items are crucial for children to thrive, grow, and learn, whether it be at the kindergartens, summer camp, or even a kindergarten in Zavkhan province, where basic resources were scarce.
We are so grateful to the Rotarians of Rotary Club of Murray Bridge, Mobilong Rotary Inc, and Kidman Park Rotary Club. Your contributions are making a significant difference in the lives of Mongolian children.

Well done to Cian Yakas who recently was judged the overall winner of the 2023 MB Youth Art Show.
Cian’s work impressed the judges and was awarded $1000 for his winning entry called “Six of Spades”
He also came 3rd in the 18 - 20 year old category with his entry called “Star Gaze”

‘Unveiling of our donut caravan’ which was attended by most of our members and with special guest Andrew Baltensperger our Deputy Mayor helping us to celebrate this occasion. We are very grateful to the Rotary Club of Murray Bridge for giving us a caravan they had no further use for, and to the Murray Bridge Council for providing some of the funds needed to re-furbish it.
